As a full-time RV family, known online as Live Out Loud Family, we’ve embraced a lifestyle of adventure, exploration, and connection. But living on the road with two kids, running a business, a vlog, and managing virtual schooling can feel like a juggling act. That’s why finding LifeTech Academy has been such a game-changer for us. It’s not just a school—it’s the foundation that allows us to educate our kids while living our dream.

The Gift of Flexibility

One of the biggest challenges we faced when transitioning to RV life was figuring out how to manage our children’s education. Jonah and Jude thrive in an environment where they can explore, question, and learn at their own pace. LifeTech Academy gave us exactly that. Whether we’re parked in Michigan at our home base or exploring national parks nationwide, their online curriculum fits seamlessly into our unpredictable schedule.

LifeTech’s flexibility allows us to adapt schoolwork to our adventures. When we visited the Badlands, for example, we were able to show the boys the places they were learning about in social studies and even attend a powwow to bring learning to life. When we’re home in Michigan, we take full advantage of local field trips to places like Frankenmuth, for holiday fun with other LifeTech families, or the planetarium..

Support When We Need It

What sets LifeTech apart is its incredible support team. As a mom managing a bustling schedule, I need help. The learning coaches and academic coaches at LifeTech are always there to guide Jonah and Jude, answer questions, and even suggest creative ideas that align with our travels. They’ve made navigating virtual school feel manageable, even while balancing our work as content creators.

The personalized learning approach has been invaluable. Both kids have different learning styles—Jonah loves hands-on activities, while Jude excels in independent work. LifeTech provides the tools and flexibility to cater to both of their needs.

Tips for Other Busy Families

If you’re considering virtual schooling while living a busy, unconventional lifestyle like ours, here are a few tips that have worked for us:

  1. Create a Routine That Works for You: We don’t follow the traditional 8-to-3 school schedule. Instead, we break up lessons into smaller chunks throughout the day, leaving room for exploration and work.
  2. Use Your Surroundings as a Classroom: Field trips are everywhere when you’re on the road! Tie lessons into your travels. For instance, visiting historic sites or museums makes history come alive.
  3. Stay Organized: Keeping track of assignments can be overwhelming, so we use a shared digital calendar for school, vlogging deadlines, and travel plans.
  4. Involve the Kids in Planning: Jonah and Jude love having a say in what we do, whether it’s choosing a field trip or deciding the order of their assignments. It keeps them engaged.
  5. Lean on Your Support System: LifeTech’s team has been a lifesaver for us. Ms. Kathy has become an extension of our family. Don’t hesitate to ask for help or advice—they’re there to make your life easier. We had a curriculum for Spanish that did not work well for Jonah’s learning style. His academic team rallied behind us and found a new curriculum which is now his favorite!

Living the Dream, Together

What we love most about LifeTech Academy is that it’s given us the freedom to live our dream as a family. We’re able to give our kids an education that’s just as adventurous as the lifestyle we’ve chosen. Whether we’re hiking through national parks, exploring small towns, or cozying up in our RV for a day of lessons and editing vlogs, we know our kids are getting the best of both worlds.

As a mom, I couldn’t be more grateful for a school that understands and supports our unique journey. LifeTech Academy has truly been a partner in making this life possible. To all the families out there who feel like their life doesn’t fit into a traditional box, I want to say: there’s a way to make it work. And when you find the right tools, like we did with LifeTech, the possibilities are endless.
